The 2010 USMS Code of Regulations and Rules of Competition shall apply. In particular, see
Part 2 and Part 3 of the Code. Please see the February 4, 2010 Important Update with respect to the USMS open water swimsuit rules clarification. Registrant must be at least 18-years of age on the day of the August 7, 2010 CIOWS Event. USMS registration is required of all participants. To enhance swimmer safety and accountability, all swim competitors are required to be visibly Body-Marked (e.g., arm, leg, other) with their assigned race entry number. All swim competitors are required to wear the CIOWS Event-supplied fluorescent or brightly colored swim caps.  For swimmer safety purposes, wetsuits are not allowed when the lake water surface temperature is greater than 78°F.  Also, see WETSUITS (below).

Check-in starts at 8:00 A.M. and closes at 9:30 A.M. CT. Positive check-in is REQUIRED to participate in CIOWS. Your USMS Membership Card and photo identification are required to be presented at check-in. Each registrant is required to sign a copy of their CIOWS Entry Form liability release (similar to PAPER ENTRY Form), a One-Event (OEVT) Registration Form (if applicable), and a safety information statement at registration check-in prior to participating in any CIOWS warm-up or Event. Pre-printed information from your ONLINE Entry will be available for you at registration check-in for this purpose. Each registrant will receive fluorescent swim cap, timing transponder chip, Body-Mark of assigned race number, and other information.

9:40 A.M. CT. REQUIRED for ALL Registered CIOWS Participants

Triangular 1.2-Mile loop course marked by buoys, lifeguards, rowboats, rescue boards, and kayaks, Officials, and/or other personnel. Start in Evergreen Lake water, swim counter-clockwise around orange 8-foot tetrahedron turn buoy marks, and finish with short run on grass field through finish chute. Course is subject to change if CIOWS Event day race conditions warrant. See (below).

Anticipated in range of 77°F and 82°F. Mid-July triathlon experience since 2006 has ranged from 77.5°F to 82°F. Check www.CIOWS.org for lake water temperature updates. Available historical temperature data (since 2003) from adjoining Lake Bloomington (shallower than Evergreen Lake) has an average August water temperature of 78.5°F and an average August range of 73.4°F to 80.6°F. You are encouraged to be a USMS Member to compete in CIOWS. Online Entry registration begins with USMS membership verification. Cost for an annual 2010 USMS/ILMSA membership is $37.00. You must bring your USMS Registration Card to show at the CIOWS Event . USMS/ILMSA Member registration is available via www.ILMSA.com, or at https://www.clubassistant.com/club/usms.cfm?!=21. Otherwise, you may register to be a USMS Member at www.ClubAssistant.com/club/usms.cfm. ONLINE Member registration provides immediate USMS Member Number and downloadable USMS Registration Card.

If you choose not to become a USMS Member (at this time), you may opt for One-Event (OEVT) registration for the CIOWS Event only. The OEVT fee is $22.00. [Note: $12.00 goes to USMS, and $10.00 goes to ILMSA.] The OEVT registration is only available during ONLINE entry registration. There are not paper entries for OEVT registrations. The OEVT fee is in addition to your CIOWS Event entry fee.

Note: OEVT entrants are considered “Unattached” and must agree to be governed by the rules and regulations of USMS (See , above). The result times of OEVT registrants are not eligible for Top Ten tabulation, national or world records, All-American status, or any other USMS special awards.
Note: You may apply your OEVT registration fee toward your full USMS or ILMSA Membership fee if both occur during the same year. We may contact you about the benefits and wisdom of becoming an U.S. Masters Swimming Member.

No refunds! The CIOWS Event may be delayed or cancelled due to extreme weather, other emergency, and/or as determined by the CIOWS Safety Coordinator Official and Meet Referee.

A high quality CIOWS Event T-Shirt is available for $ 12.00 at the time of CIOWS registration. Please indicate size and quantity during CIOWS registration. A limited supply of these TShirts may be purchased at the Event for $ 12.00. Order during ONLINE Entry and do not be left out!

Wetsuits may be allowed at the discretion of the CIOWS Event Meet Director when the Evergreen Lake water temperature does not exceed 78°F.   For swimmer safety purposes, wetsuits are not allowed when the lake water surface temperature is greater than 78°F.  Swimmers wearing wetsuits (if allowed) shall be tabulated in the results and awards separate from the non-wetsuit swim competitors. Swimmers wearing any of the suits approved by USMS for open water swim events will be permitted to swim and be tabulated in the results and awards with the non-wetsuit swim competitors. Please see the February 4, 2010 Important Update with respect to the USMS open water swimsuit rules clarification.  Also, see RULES (above).

It’s Race Time, Inc, will post results during the CIOWS Event. Final results will be posted at www.ItsRaceTime.com. Also, check www.CIOWS.org for e-link to the results. One-Event registrants will be identified in the results as One-Event (OEVT) entrants.

The top three in each gender age group division will be recognized with awards presented to the non-wetsuits age group division winners. If wetsuits are allowed, the swim competitors are awarded for only the top three overall males and females.

Plenty of space for car parking. No cost for car parking or to enter Comlara Park.

Plenty of free eats and non-alcoholic hydration beverages will be available at the CIOWS Event for your enjoyment. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PROHIBITED AT COMLARA PARK, AS IS THE CASE WITH ALL OF McLEAN COUNTY PARKS!
